Web Message From: Stephen Horman To: Etax Accountants Wow, that’s odd. I wasn’t told that it was going to be that much. And it took me asking you where my money is, to let me know that it cost that much. I found you’re services very frustrating. I think your slogan is quite inaccurate. You made tax much harder for me this year. And I’ll never use this service again. I’ll probably also advise all my friends and family/everyone on my emailing list to never use this service. Thanks for not much at all.

Web Message From: Etax Accountants To: Stephen Horman Thank you for your information. We advise your estimated refund is $277.00. If the ATO has additional information the tax refund may differ from this estimation. We are sorry for the delay – We will now lodge your 2007 tax return. The progress of your tax return can be tracked on our website. Please remember you must keep a printed copy of your return receipts and other evidence for five years from the date your tax return is lodged. Please note that the Tax Office advises that they do not issue refunds until 14 July. They do process tax returns in the order they are received so your refund should issue shortly thereafter. We are pleased to be of service to you.

Web Message From: Stephen Horman To: Etax Accountants I didn’t earn over the $6,000 in the 12months. I have been previously informed that there is no point in trying to apply for these types of deductions because I haven’t earned enough to get them back. Please respond. Also, as a side note. None of the deductions mentioned below apply to me. I am a full time student and was living at home with parental support in those 12months of July 06 – June 07.

I certainly will block them from my internet directory, Stephen. Those accountants should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell.
P.S. What’s an internet directory?
After reading this story, I hate E-tax, too! What a bunch of rotten crooks! What is it w/ big businesses always trying to stiff the little guy?! I am currently undergoing a battle with Cogeco, my phone & internet provider. They reel you into these “package deals” by telling you, “Hey look how much money you’ll save!”, but of course they neglect to mention their service completely SUCKS and the aggrivation of dealing with them isn’t worth the savings. In fact, at this point I’d sooner pay double the money to simply avoid having to deal with them ever again. It’s bullsh*t I tells ya.
Anyway, fingers crossed that you’ll receive a full refund and an apology letter from the kind folks at E-tax. Hey, you never know!
Why did you use an accountant if your tax was so simple? Of course they are going to charge a fee for their time no matter what refund you get. Don’t slag off e-tax because that’s the name of the program from the ATO that people like me use to do their tax for free. Different to the accountants that decided to call their business e-tax too and thats their website http://www.etax.com.au
So don’t slag off the e-tax ’service’, cause that’s fine. It’s etax.com.au the accountants that should be smote. But then again you decided to use an accountant.
I agree with Hooly.
The term etax is deceptive because the company has chosen to use the same name as the service offered on the ATO website.
I’ve used both options in the past and had little trouble doing it free online via the ATO website. Hardest thing you have to do is download and setup the program. Received my tax return in a week.
Get rid of the company though.
Your blog is interesting!
Keep up the good work!
